Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry
Avoid crossing into Ski Cooper terrain unless you have a pass, then you can take the Triple or the Double to the top, ski down the backside, and start your ascent up the ridge from there. Seasons when Cat tours and guiding are occurring, be courteous of guides, the cats, and their parties as well.
Need to Know
Don't hit any guides or cats, or trigger anything. Be respectful of Ski Cooper and their facilities and work.
Start either on the outskirts of the Ski Cooper parking lot, or near the signs for the groomed road leading to the trail to Vance's Cabin Approach
. Follow the begging of the approach, and where the groomed road Y's off into Left/Right, take the skier's right side up the road as it curves back towards the ski area.
Follow this route until it takes you to the backside of Cooper. Follow this until you find a good place to skin up through the trees to tree line, where you are able to gain the ridge and access the various lines off the top and saddles of Chicago Ridge.
