Overview

If you're way cool, you'll ski the east-facing shoots off Bountiful Peak. Or, if maybe you're just trying to get back to the Davis Creek trailhead, this run offers an alternative to rocky wind-slab torture.

Need to Know

Note that while the angle is moderate, it is connected to terrain at prime angles, and overhung by massive cornices, below the ascent ridge for the Bountiful Peak Tour Approach. If you ski far enough away from that terrain, however, you're probably okay, especially if you're skiing the other side of a Steed Creek tributary, which would catch the avalanche debris.

The run ends just before a fork of the Steed Creek drainage, which is also a terrain trap. Skin around and you'll find a safe way to regain the ridge for the Bountiful Peak Tour Approach.

Description

In the days when the Farmington Canyon road was plowed, you could access this run and the Rice and Mud bowls by parking at the junction below the Francis Peak road, then skinning up near Farmington Lake.

But those days are over, so unless you have a helicopter, you can approach via the Bountiful Peak Tour Approach, then begin the run from Bountiful Peak, or down lower where the snow is likely to be of better quality.

There's not really much to say about the run except that the snow is nice due to the aspect and wind shelter. I've added GoPro footage that's probably worth 1000 words in terms of what you might expect to find up there. It's not worth any good words as far as how badly I ski, though.
