Need to Know

This is Class 3 avalanche terrain.

Description

This steep line slides often during and after winter storms, and large wet slides are common during the springtime. It's not noticeable from much of the surrounding area and isn't skied often. When conditions are safe, usually during spring on cold mornings, it makes for an awesome alpine climb and descent when the snow softens enough to ride. The best approach is via the Lake Fork Primitive Route.

The top of the line is a steep couloir lined with jagged cliffs. It opens onto an apron and drops into a basin following an open avalanche path that runs below the treeline.
