A great side-country basin with good options to get into some backcountry options.

Check in with ski patrol prior to venturing out into Silver Basin, they do blast there occasionally.

Overview

This is a simple basin that has a mellow (~35 degree) slope up to a col in the back of the basin.

Description

Sweeping to the west, the ridge extends out to Silver King, giving you great options on stable days. In pre-season, this is a great tour and can allow for stealing some laps before all the resort goers get to it. Even on packed days, there can be some stashes out here, so keep on hiking and have your hopes high.

Hiking to get some socked in sunrise turns. Can be a little too steep to switch back in some conditions, but usually you can lay a track down.
