Finland Glades Easy Way Down & Up (again) – Descent
After attempting a chute on the face, I decided to take the easy way down for the rest of the day—maximizing laps and focusing more on touring than hero skiing.
Need to Know
Keep speed at the base/bottom, then turn hard right to shorten the skin track and cut skin time.
Small tweak, big payoff on multi-lap days.
Description
Conditions were so-so and quite windblown in exposed areas.
A few obstacles poking through here and there.
Still very skiable, you should be able to link turns to keep a good rhythm. Just opt for the easier lines.
Snow base:
13 inches at the top (very windblown)
15 inches at the Summit Trail Access sign
It's skiable and honestly still enjoyable, especially if you're happy to pick your way and keep moving. That said, another 5–10 inches would transform it—more coverage, smoother turns, fewer surprises. Fingers crossed for a solid dump soon!
The skin track remains great, and the zone still feels like a gem even on a "just okay" day.
