Need to Know

The area is very popular, and open to snowmobiles which you may find obnoxious.

Description

There are a myriad of options to ski Meadow Mountain, and this is just an example. It follows a fairly continuous line through open meadows and sparse aspen trees that are suitable for beginner tree skiers. Nothing around here is steep, but it makes for an enjoyable day in the mountains.

History & Background

In the 1920's, the meadows were the property of the Evercrisp Lettuce Company (I kid you not - Minturn was "the lettuce capital of America"). In the early 1960's, it was the Meadow Mountain ski area. Vail bought it and ran it for a few more years before giving up due to its lower elevation and southeast-facing slopes.
