Guanella Pass must be open for the season to access the trailhead

Overview

Once Guanalla pass has opened for the season, Naylor Lake Chute is a quick and easy ski and you'll be back at the trailhead in time for lunch in Idaho Springs.

Description

Take the Guanella Pass Road out of Georgetown and turn off near the Guanella Pass Campground towards the Silver Dollar Trailhead. Drive as far as you can towards the trailhead and park where there is space.

Follow the Silver Dollar Lake trail to Naylor Lake until you cross the obvious north facing chute. Once at the chute, climb up the chute itself. It's possible to get a 2 for 1 with the chute next door. Top out of the chute for a rewarding view of Squaretop.

Ski back down the chute and bear skier's right, if you head right with enough height, you'll be able to ski back to car without another transition.
