Avalanche risk for Nov 26, 2017: Low

Generally safe avalanche conditions. Watch for unstable snow on isolated terrain features. Natural and human-triggered avalanches unlikely.

The run from Black's Peak.

Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

Description

This is one of my favorite lines up on B-Ridge, also known as Black's Peak apron. It's a big, beautiful open pitch of snow-flanked on both sides by two lines of evergreen trees converging to a point at the bottom. Note that an avalanche here would rake you through the trees. Ski beyond these trees for a slightly longer pitch. The flanking evergreens may provide some protection for this place from the wind.

You can ski further down after reaching the bottom of the "V" of Black's Peak Apron, as shown here.

These are my ski tracks dropping off the NE side of Crescent ridge mid-way down. Glad it didn't slide on me.

First couple turns off the top of Black's Peak Apron ski run. I was so excited I didn't crash that I had to take a quick picture, then go on to crash just before reaching the bottom of the run.

The view West from the top of Black's Peak Apron ski run. Ski through the trees to reach the apron.

Stoked to have skied the whole pitch of snow without stopping or crashing. This is looking up Black's Peak Apron from the bottom. Also glad it didn't slide.

My ski tracks down Black's Peak Apron...sloppy turns, I know. This is nearing the base of the run and looking back up it.
