Description

The North Y Chute requires a bit more hiking than many of the lines on the East Wall at A-Basin, so it's usually skiing a bit better and is definitely less crowded than the lines off the North Pole Gate.

The approach up the 7th Tree Chute Staircase is the hard part of this line. Once you're on top, there's not much to do but enjoy the descent down a wide, consistently steep pitch with spectacular views of A-Basin. Make sure to hang a little bit to the left at the bottom if you want to be able to make it back to the Lenawee chair.

Once you get above the scree, another obvious staircase takes you up to the entrance to the Y Chutes. Cut right about 3/4 of the way up the photo where the tongue of snow makes it most of the way across the rocks.
