Green Butte Ridge to Treeline 1k Lap

Last 400 feet of the accent lies within the Sierra Club land, so no dogs on that section.

A very simple and safe accent that starts at Bunny Flat and follows the Green Butte Ridge for 1,000 feet and gets you to the tree line. From here, you can access both very mellow lower angle SW, S, SE tree'd slopes that are not as avy prone to steeper NW terrain that can be invaluable when the suncrust get bad, or just cruise back down the ridge. If the avy danger and group allow, continue up Green Butte Ridge to access open bowls in Avy Gulch or Old Ski Bowl.

Often the skin track that is set in some of the steeper sections is steeper than it is efficient, so don't be afraid to set in your own switchbacks within reason.

Luckily descending anywhere skiers left of the Green Butte Ridge will have the Everitt Memorial Highway (A10 on maps) serve as a catch road.
