7th Tree Chute Staircase

Type: In Bounds (completely inside ski area boundary)

Located at the very end of the East Wall Traverse, this staircase gives you access to the Tree Chutes and the Y Chute.

The first part of the staircase, while a little bit steep, can be easily managed with your skis over your shoulder. Hang left below the ridgeline, just after looping a bit to the right around a large rock, for the access to the 1st - 6th Tree Chutes. The 7th Tree Chute is just to your right as you hike up.

If you'd like to continue higher to the 8th Tree Chute or the Y Chute, take pretty much any line that looks doable across the scree field to gain the ridge. For this part of the hike, it's really nice to have your skis on your back, as the footing can be a little challenging.

Once you're behind the scree field, turn right and continue booting up the ridge. After a little while, you'll see a bit of snow that nearly connects to the bootpack from the right; walk or traverse across this pathway to get to the North Y Chute.
