Description

This is the winter route from the Bear Lake Trailhead to the Loch. First, you ski down the trail from Bear Lake to Glacier Gorge. Then, you follow the Glacier Gorge Trail for a short time before turning off to the right to follow a stream more directly to the Loch. The grades on this route are mellow, and backcountry visitors won't find too many strenuous sections on this ascent.

From the Loch, you can easily get up to Otis Redding Couloir, Taylor Glacier, or Sky Pond.
