Description

This run drops off the south side of the ridge dividing Mill Creek Canyon from Big Cottonwood Canyon in the Powder Park 1 area located northwest of Desolation Lake in the Mill D North Fork area. It's also just east of Little Water Peak.

Skin up Mill D North Fork until you reach the split marked by a sign pointing the ways to Dog Lake (west) and Desolation Lake (east). Head toward the latter, but after a mile or so, you need to get into the more northerly drainage, the head of which makes up the aptly named Powder Park 1 area. So many great options exists here, and there are lots of low-angle and wind-sheltered areas to choose from.

This was taken at the start of the Powder Parkin ski run looking south. The drainage shown is the Powder Park 1 area. More great skiing can be had left of the photo (out of view.) Desolation Lake is over and behind the ridge front and center.
