Mt. Ashland South Ski Area Boundary Ascent

Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

Most direct route to get to the peak of Mt. Ashland from the ski area part of the parking lot. You skirt the southern boundary of the ski area (Ado run).

Easy way finding since you just stay to the southern side of the ski boundary signs. Since it is kinda a STFU (straight the f*** up) route as drawn knowing how to kick turn can be nice in some spots but not necessary. Or if you want to make it easier just follow the natural contour of the southern slope of Mt. Ashland, which is still easy to wayfind. The top bit can be icy as the wind normally comes from the south so the scouring is made worse by any freeze thaw cycle. No need for ski crampons since it's a moderate slope, just good judgment on your skin track.

Then ski down any of the slopes as long as it's outside of the ski area UNLESS the ski area isn't open (ex. before 9 am or complete wind hold). For all the W/SW/S/SE facing slopes you'll hit the Forestry road that leads back to the parking lot.
