Description

Use the Coopers Spur trail to make your approach and ascent to the line.

In the warmer months, this approach can be cut by using an approach at a higher altitude, however in winter that road is closed and cannot be used. Though this is quite a long approach which may begin below the snow line, leaving you unable to skin initially, it is worth the hike. Along the way, you'll pass the Tilly Jane cabin and another shelter (name unknown). Both of these are on a first come first served basis and can be used if you need to break up your trip for comfort. There is also a stone shelter just above the tree line, but that can get snow-packed.

The trail is heavily used and pretty identifiable until you get to where it opens up just below the tree line. At this point you can see the summit (if it is clear enough) and use that for reference. You are now hiking on your line, continue the hike or start skinning and enjoy the views :-)

Climbed to the stone shelter. Snow is still very light to bare at the bottom, beautiful in the middle and wind blown on the snow field. 3.8mi
