Overview

Perhaps the most mellow ski descent off of Long's.

Description

Take the Long's Peak Trail to Chasm Lake. From Chasm, head up the very obvious and huge Loft Couloir to looker's left (and left of the Ships Prow rock formation). Skin and boot up to the top of the couloir / Loft area.

From here, you're on the shoulder connecting Meeker and Long's. Follow the summer hiking route (Clark's Arrow to Keplingers/Homestretch). Summit Long's and return the same way: beginning your descent with the Homestretch, traversing back to the shoulder and finally, skiing down the Loft.

It should be noted that huge avalanches are prone in the Loft cirque. While a relatively more mellow ski descent than any of the other couloirs, this route is quite terrifying in and of itself given the looming danger surrounding this area above Chasm Lake.

The Loft Couloir is the very obvious path up to the right. Note the cliff bands and hanging cornice above.

A few turns below the top. Once you get beyond the rollover, the rest of the couloir becomes visible.
