The winter closure is miles and miles down Halfmoon Rd. Use Mt. Elbert: East Ridge instead.

Description

Except for one semi-steep section near the top, you can probably just skin straight up this whole thing. It's a very casual, easy approach, but requires that the road is dry enough to make it to the trailhead. The route will give perfect views of Box Creek Chutes, if that's your plan.
