Overview

On the lee side of many storms, so this area gets loaded with powder.

Need to Know

The entire run is in Mt. Rose Wilderness. No motor vehicles.

Description

Wide-open bowl that is notorious for big avalanches. So avoid during high avalanche danger days.

Open bowl that narrows at the bottom. When you start to hit little trees and avalanche debris, skin back up the ridge to the east (skier's right) back to the summit and repeat ad nauseam.

More on avalanches in this bowl. The bowl narrows great causing a restriction and terrain trap.

You can access via snowmobile from Tahoe Meadows, but you'll have to skin back up and out of the wilderness. No snowmobiles on the Mount Rose/Reno side of the ridge.
