This is a short skin up to an awesome vista of Lake Tahoe.

Tim Varner
Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

Description

Start off with a skin slide down a bank to the lake/meadow. There's usually a nice skin track across some rolling flats into the bowl that you can see from the road. At this point, some people choose to skin up the descent line, but I prefer to traverse up to the ridge and ride that up. The skin up to the peak can get close to as steep as the gut, but at least you're not in a terrain trap and can make decisions about the safety of upcoming descents. From the summit, you get amazing views of sunrises over Carson Valley and sunsets over Lake Tahoe.
