“A beautiful and challenging descent on Mount Artavaz.”— State Tourism Committee Republic of Armenia
Mount Artavaz is one of the peaks of the central parts of Pambak sierra (2929 m). It has a rare semi-round form and an elevation of 2929 m. Artavaz village is located near its base. The water reservoir of Hankavan is also visible from the slopes.
The ski line off Mount Artavaz descends steeply off the east side of the mountain. This section is dangerous with the snowstorms, and it is advised to follow the trail without going off road. The most beautiful scenes open up from the peak areas.
Once at the base of the descent, you can follow your original track back to town or climb back up for another lap. It is advised on you way back down to visit Kecharis church complex and the biggest ski resort of Armenia in Kotayk region.
It is possible to meet bears on the peaks and inclines of the mountain so be aware of your surroundings.
