Overview

This is a 50+ degree couloir that is reasonably wide and without obstacles. Finding this line is perhaps the most consequential aspect of the descent: If you miss it and continue skier's right, you'll find yourself in the "Ralph's Slide" area—a large, avalanche-prone snow field above a massive cliff (avoid this area).

Need to Know

This is an avalanche-prone area with challenging route finding. Bring all the gear, and ideally a friend who is familiar with the area.

Description

To access Zero G, exit through Backcountry Gate 2 at JHMR—this is the same access gate for Cody Peak Ascent. Ski the fall line through mellow terrain staying slightly skier's right. You'll find a small bowl-like area that narrows into a couloir.

From the top, you should be able to see all the way down, noting a large, fin-like rock feature in the middle of the runout. The basin below feeds directly into lower Rock Springs Canyon (straight) or to the boot pack to Four Pines (skier's right). Both options eventually lead back to the resort.
