Overview

This is a full day adventure for a normal party.

Need to Know

Car shuttle or pickup required.

Description

Start at Mayflower Gulch TH, taking care to make the left turn into Pacific Creek to the head and the maze of moraine to the SW face of Pacific Peak. Climb the face if there is snow (crampons and axe). Descend the east ridge onto the edge of the Pacific tarn basin.

The Rocket Couloir is the 3rd and best looking gully on the left. Careful on the exit of the Mohawk Lakes area. Convex rollovers to avalanche terrain on east-facing low elevation aspects. Route finding is critical through this area.
