A quick, winter approach into a basin below several fourteeners.

Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

Description

Starting from Montgomery Reservoir, continue up the 4-wheeling road to the northwest. Follow the road and gully around to the west, then southwest. This brings you along the north faces of Mt. Lincoln and eventually to the base of Mt. Democrat's North Face. To summit Democrat, boot up the looker's left side of the north face. Make sure to check out the north lines off Lincoln too—there's lots of opportunity for exploring there.
