Start on the Long Trail at the Smugglers Notch Access Road (closed in winter). Crampons/snowshoes are a smart tool. This is a strenuous climb with amazing views and happy endings for hard work. Follow the white trail blazes unless they are under the snow, then just go up until you can't go up anymore. Be smart, and bring a map and compass, food, and extra clothing. The summit will make you hypothermic after sweating your poop-shoot fat off during the climb.
