This ascent starts at the Appalachian Gap where Long Trail crosses Vermont 17 approximately 1.4 miles west of Mad River Glenn Cooperative. This ascent has a lot of descent options along the way. It provides nearly full access to Mad River Glen, traversing the ridge past Chair Lift 2 and ending at Starks Nest, which is where Chair Lift 1 offloads.
