Need to Know

Hitchhiking from the parking area at the bottom of the run to the parking area where you begin your hike is easy, making this a great run to lap.

Description

The Rock Creek Headwall Approach description is the best way to access this run.

From the top of the headwall pick a line and drop in. Every option is steep at the top but they all eventually funnel into a fun apron towards the bottom (watch out for rocks as the summer progresses!). Depending on the line and snow conditions there may be a mandatory cornice drop but most of the time you can navigate around the cornice (skiers right, typically, has less intense options).

Once you've reached the bottom of the apron make your way to the large pullout at the highway switchback.

2014 was a great spring for this Headwall, many years are not. The center cornice did break and slide the second day the road was open at about 10:30a — 10h 15m
