Description

From the West Elk Loop Road, pick your way through the sparse fir and spruce trees. There are a couple skiable drainages here; you can ascend either one and both are great lines.

Eventually, you'll reach the Anthracite ridge which provides access to great, mostly safe (save for a few rollers) skiing to the north of the ridge.
