A long ascent follows a hiking trail along Rock Creek.

Gunks Jesse
Type: Backcountry or Sidecountry

From the Rock Creek trailhead, take the left fork south up Forest Road 116.2 for approximately 2.5 miles to tree line. There are several variations to the 116 road and you'll end up either in the bowl below the East Ridge or on the shoulder east of the East Ridge. From either point, continue straight to the summit.

This ascent provides access to the East Ridge and the South slopes of Saint Vrain Mountain.

Went November 11th. Still needed more of a base in the trees, but skiing the road was fun enough for early season! Watch out for a family of moose in the canyon. Didn't see them but heard about them from other hikers. Nov 19, 2017

Went up in January. Lots of wind and not much snow. Very windblown and rocky. Need more coverage. Better going to hidden Valley. Jan 14, 2019
