Noob question

I got an A/T setup this year.  I have never done any touring prior.  I have been out a few times to Butler Gulch just to get used to skinning and transitions, nothing steep or long.  I'm taking my avy 1 in January.  I want to be efficient on my skis for this.  I do, however, have a four pass for Copper.  My question:. Can I use my A/T setup at the resort?  I just want to get used to taking them downhill before my class.  My boots are Scarpa Mastraele RS with dynafit St 12 bindings.  Safety issue?  Performance issue?  Both?  Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Those should be fine in the resort, you'll probably see other people on similar setups. Also, most resorts have "uphill access", where you can tour up and ski down in a safe environment.

Copper's is closed right now, but uphill access is open at A-Basin and Winter Park.
